Fantech RE54 4" or 5" Centrifugal Duct Fan Roof Mount - 116 CFM High Performance Ventilation Fan for Attic, Greenhouse & Commercial Spaces

I used this for a kitchen vent hood. My "high end" vent certainly left a lot to be desired. It moved over 1000cfm of air but it sounded like a tornado and only had 4 speed options. I installed this Fantech fan, inline muffler and a solid state speed control so I could minimize noise and gain more control.This fan has a distinct sound due to a much higher RPM than the blower type fan it replaced. With the muffler installed and fan on high I can easily converse across the kitchen which was impossible before. I actually like the turbine sound of the fan because it's so quiet. On low it's essentially inaudible but still moves plenty of air for light cooking.Not only is it quiet but it moves a lot of air. On high I can't feel any difference in the volume of air being whisked away versus the stock blower. This says a lot because this fan is rated significantly lower than my name brand vent hood blower.All in all this is a fantastic setup and I'd do it 100 times over an in-hood blower.
