Product Description

Three films commemorating the events of 1982 when Argentinian forces invaded the Falkland Islands and Britain responded by mobilising a task force to restore the islands to British control. More than a thousand lives were lost during this bitter conflict. The trio of films tells the story of the Battle of Goose Green, the fall of Port Stanley and gives an overview of the Falklands war as a whole, using battle reconstructions and 3D animated graphics as well as extensive interviews with military experts and historians.

The Falklands play is a superb piece of TV.. showing Lady Thatcher in full 'Iron Lady' mode and the difficulties behind the scenes in making decisions and the awkward logistics of it all.. She took no bull from the Americans and made her intentions very clear. The BBC has only ever screened this excellent drama once 20yrs after it was made and at a off peak time.. Some say it's because it shows her in a favourable light rather than the usual immature digs so prevalent in leftist media these days.. Whatever, it's definately worth buying/watching, old Maggie didn't suffer fools gladly..Tumbledown is another excellent and thoughtful piece about the aftermath for the wounded and how they can be shunned..shot in a typically eighties style and colour.. The two make a good package, it's a shame there's not more good Falklands stuff made..
