Our new light finally got installed today! One thing I couldn't find in reviews before I bought this was whether you can turn on just the top lights, just the bottom, or both top and bottom. The answer is yes, you can. It is done by pulling the chain on the fan itself. The light looks totally different depending on which one you choose, so I have attached pics with it each way. The first pic is with both on, and it gives off a little bit of the disco ball feel. Second pic is with just the bottom light on and it does not make any patterns - it is still very sparkly on the light itself, however, which is beautiful. The last pic is with just the top light on, and it creates a very busy pattern on all the walls. Kind of cool mood lighting, but probably won't use that one very often. To look at it, we can't really figure out why the bottom light doesn't give off the patterns, as it is also shining the light through a ton of crystals, but I am glad it doesn't so there is an option for just a regular light. There is really no way I could find to capture the sparkle of the lights in a pic, but it really is gorgeous. Highly recommend.
