This light is very bright much brighter than the Fluval 3.0 for example. It’s very intense and grows red plant very well. It works great if you have a deep tank as well the light penetrates all the way to the bottom of the tank. I have it side by side with the fluval 3.0 and the difference in growth rate and color is dramatic. It will produce algae if you don’t do regular water changes or if you have too much nutrients in the tank, also if you ha e a shallow tank it may need to be raised up higher. Overall I’m really happy with this light it covered about 24 inches wide maybe more the higher it’s raised up. The price is also very good in comparison to other lights. But the intensity is much stronger than the finnex 24/7 planted as well as the fluval 3.0. Not sure how it compares to other top brands but then your paying much more for those.
