Blazing-fast data transfer speeds This USB4 enclosure allows you to harness the incredible speed of 40Gbps. That's up to 4 times faster than USB3.2 Gen2 enclosures and makes it perfect for demanding tasks like video editing, large file transfers, and gaming. !!! Not fit for M.2 SSD with heatsink !!! Previous page Next page 1 DHT Heat Pipes 2 Intelligent Cooling Fan Previous page Next page 1 Support M.2 2280 NVMe SSD 2 Wide Compatibility 3 System Requirements For Windows users, in order to get better write speed performance, please go "Disk Management" -> right click the external disk -> click properties -> policies -> choose better performance on this device -> enable write cache on the device. Is Thunderbolt the same as USB4? Both can drive dual 4K displays, transfers data at 40Gbps, and provide power to charge a laptop. But USB4 has lower minimum specs, and makers can choose not to implement all the features to minimize costs. Why does my hard drive enclosure's performance differ from what's advertised? Speed test results can vary based on factors like software, hardware, and operating environment. For optimal performance, use a USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 connection. Why is my hard drive enclosure unreliable on Windows? Windows system compatibility can vary due to platform differences and infrequent firmware updates. To improve reliability, use a Windows system with an Intel 12th generation or newer CPU, or an AMD Ryzen 12th generation or newer CPU. How can I improve writing speed on Windows devices? Because speed test performance can vary due to different software, environments, and hardware, it is recommended to use a USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 interface to get the best speed performance. How can I prevent an increase in unsafe hard drive shutdowns? The enclosure is connected to the PCIe interface of the device and cannot be directly removed like ordinary USB devices, please shut down your computer and remove the enclosure to avoid an increase in the number of unsafe hard disk shutdowns. 【40Gbps Ultra High Speed】USB 4.0 ASM2464PD chipset supports USB-C(USB Type-C) connection and data transmission speed up to PCIe 4.0 x4 40Gbps for steady and efficient data transfer. Compatible with Thunderbolt 4/3 and backward compatible with USB 3.2/3.1/3.0/2.0 at respective speed limits (Please be sure to use USB 4.0 or Thunderbolt 4 interface and upgrade the OS build and NVM FW version to the lastest version to achieve 40Gbps transfer speed. Backward compatibility will limit the speed, and the device might not be recognized)
【Efficient Heat Dissipation】The combination of active heat disspation with built-in cooling fan and passive heat disspation with copper heatpipe and aluminum heatsink helps dissipating the heat generated by M.2 SSD. Effectively protect your SSD from overheating and keep high transfer rate
【Optimal Cooling】Highly optimised 30mm fan with low-noise adaptor for ultra-quiet operation would find the balance between the cooling performance and noise level. This cooling fan reduces the heat of M.2 SSD by 60%. Better heat dissipation, less strain on his M.2 SSD when working
【Direct Touch Heatpipes】Dual copper heat pipes provides better cooling performance by using DTH(Direct Touch Heatpipes) technology. Its flat machined surface touches the SSD evenly and conducts heat extremely fast
【Stability and Safety】NVMe PCIe reader adopts an advanced ASM2464PD controller that built with short-circuit, over-current and multi-protection to ensure safety for your SSD and valuable data
The drive is fast, faster than many other larger USB4 or TB4 enclosures. I’m using it with a Samsung 980 Pro M.2 2TB SSD. Plugged into my Mac Studio M2 Max I’m getting speeds of about 3.2GB/s write and 3GB/s read. It is extremely well made and the all aluminum case has a quality feel to it that is heavy for its size. The fan does make a highish-pitched hum if you’re close enough to it in a quiet room but not something you’d be bothered by in a normal environment. I do wish the fan didn’t run continuously though. I feel it would have been better if it came on only above a set temperature threshold or at least only came on when it was actively transferring data and off when sitting idle. Maybe for a v2? Otherwise a very nicely built, quality product with faster speeds than most.EDIT: After having this drive for a short time I realize that it has or developed the following problem. When I have it plugged into my Mac Studio and shut down normally and then start up again, the drive mounts on the desktop and can be used normally. But...I realized just recently that the fan does not turn back on automatically! Maybe that’s just a defect with mine but I didn’t realize this until I went to move it and it was VERY hot to the touch. That’s when I realized the fan wasn’t spinning. The blue light comes on but no fan. If I unplug it and then plug it back in, then the fan comes on. I checked that this was happing repeatedly and not just a one-time fluke so I’m sending it back and will look for another enclosure unfortunately as I don’t want to have to unplug/reconnect after every boot or restart.
