I am rating this 5 star because the fan control switch seems to good quality and is as described. I was hopeful this would work in my application, but it did not and I am returning the item…not because the switch did not work, but because it didn't work outside of it's design intentions.Most fan speed control switches rated for "quite" are for a single fan or only capable of a few amps and a few fans. I already had 5 Home Depot/Hampton Bay 60 Industrial fans installed in my garage - Single wall switch for all fans. I was hopeful this fan control would work without the semi-expected buzz or hum. It did not and nor was it designed that way. Most (all that I have found including this one) higher amp fan speed control switches are designed for industrial type applications where a little noise is acceptable.I can hear the buzz/hum through my walls and it seems to reverberate throughout the interior of my home. This won't work and therefore I am returning the switch and going back to a single on/off switch. I am not willing to rewire the fans to individual switches nor will remotes work for me.Again, good switch, but not if you want no buzz or hum. I called Canarm and they stated this is going to be the same even with their own fans. I gotta say Canarm customer service was great.The hunt continues for a speed control switch that can quietly handle 5 fans.
