This fan is a bit more difficult to wire up than the average 3-speed AC fan with light. Finally gave up on the byzantine instructions and figured it out myself. End result, the fan works from the wall switches and the pull chains just like any old-school AC fan.GOOD:- Plain old wall-switch operated fan with 3-speeds and a light. Works as expected from the wall switches- VERY Quiet on low speed (so far - waiting to see if the dreaded "click" develops). No "buzz"! Moves quite a bit of air on high.- The fan is pretty light - not difficult to hang at all- Design is quite sleek.BAD:- The instructions suck. Follow the colors and the labels on the wires. Unlike other reviewer's observation, this one had no issues with wrong plastic connector bodies. But it was darned confusing to see that at first.- There's a little bit of a wobble to the metal ring where the blades go through- One of the pictures in the product page seems to what plastic blades. They're not - they are wood.- The reversing switch is on top of the fan - absolutely NO HOPE to switch it without getting on a ladder.- The light is a bit yellow for my taste - would have preferred something adjustable or in the 4000-4500K color range.- The light cover is really thin cheesy plastic. I fear it won't last.- The downrod is VERY short. Might as well order a longer one right away unless you're hanging from a VERY low ceiling.OBSERVATIONS & HINTS:The 2 blue wires hanging out of the bottom of the fan (they go under the light) are the same - use either one where a blue wire is required.Remove the 2 shoulder screws that will hold the ceiling bell onto the hanger bracket BEFORE fitting the ball and downrod into the hanger. Otherwise you'll have to find a stubby screwdriver to remove them once the fan is in the way (and they are TIGHT and LONG).When you switch the power on at the wall, it takes a good 2-3 seconds for the blades to actually start moving. And then it seems to go to full speed. Give it a few more seconds and it will adjust itself to the previously set speed. So far I'm sufficiently satisfied with this fan that I plan to buy another in the near future. Not a huge number of choices for "dumb" fans with DC motors.
