This film is kind of quirky in the beginning. It has a commentary to the plot itself that interrupts the story, and when you watch it for the first time, it gets a little confusing. The commentary is actually a part of the plot, a the man making the comments is a great guy in the story... and the story is so intense that it actually needs these interruption to keep its beauty, through the first half of the film.As a woman who is a lesbian, this is the most beautiful acting I have seen, the bordering to the realistic drama of women who want to share their life with women, the s o realistic dialogues of respectful characters!, all the beautiful and genuine characters that the are in this film, and I mean ALL. The lesbian couple, the heroines, depict this lesbian drama is such a compelling manner.. combined with excellence with focus in shooting, choice of shooting scenes and of course, the eminence of the actresses in particular. "Desert Hearts" has been my undefeated favorite for a couple of decades, but has now beed surpassed. I bow in the presence of Peyton and Elena. Don't watch this film if you are afraid that you might love the beauty of women.
