Product Description

The housing is manufactured from a two-piece stamped galvanized construction. The two halves are joined using Fantech’s unique folded seam closure, which gives the fan the first in class, air tight seal. Duct connected outdoor and wet room applications of the fan are possible due to the air tight casing. FG fans are equipped with backward-curved impeller blades and external rotor motors. With the motor in the airstream the fan provides the constant dissipation of heat buildup thus giving the fan first in class of longevity and reliability.

This fan is great for it's size. I've used many chinese 8" centrifugal fans with allegedly the same or higher CFM and this outperforms them, and greatly outlasts them. I use this in mushroom agriculture to exhaust extremely humid grow tents and it holds up very well. My only gripe is that the wires from the external junction box to the motor inside pass through an UNSEALED hole. AKA the air you're exhausting is pushed into the jbox where the terminals are. A little bit of silicone caulk solves this, but why do I have to do this on a $300 fan? If you don't seal it and use it move moist air around, water can condense inside the junction box and lead to shorts - ask how I know. I have an extreme use case I know, but it would be an easy fix. I'm sure there are plenty of human hands on this unit in the production line, have them seal this wire pass through! All that being said I'll only use these fans from now on due to the durability and the fact the CFM stated is what you get.
