TYC cooling fan assemblies are designed to be comparable to OE in performance, validated through air volume test that simulates cooling ability. Each unit is an assembly with motor, fan, and shroud to simplify replacement compared to working on individual components. To ensure durability, each cooling fan design are run through tests like : corrosion resistance, endurance, moisture, torsion and, vibration. Each unit goes through a quick power-on test before leaving the factory to ensure functionality.

We have a 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. The right side fan motor started wobbling and shaking the entire fan and radiator assembly. After removing the fan assembly and taking the motor apart we found that one of the four brushes was worn down so much that it was no longer making electrical contact. The commutator was also worn down to the point it look like it may fail also. A motor replacement seem the best option. We decided to replace both motors as the second one was worn down as well. Toyota lists the motor (16363-20390) for $180- $200. To use the Toyota motors would have spent at least $360. The cooling fan assembly for the hybrid model is completely different than the assembly used on the gas only Highlander. On the hybrid model, there is a coolant overflow tank built onto the assembly. We were unable to find the entire assembly for the hybrid model anywhere. This left us with only a motor replacement option. After looking everywhere for the motors we decided to find an assembly with the same motors and just replace ours with the ones from the gas only highlander cooling fan assembly. The motors in the TYC 622020 were a perfect fit. None of the other parts in the assembly were usable on the hybrid cooling assembly, the mounting is different and the fan blades are a different size. After removing the motors from the TYC 622020 and placing them in our assembly our cooling fans are running smoothly again. So, if you are looking for an assembly for your Highlander hybrid, save yourself $230 or more and take the motors from the TYC 622020 and use them in your hybrid assembly. They work great!
