We bought this fan for a new living area addition and wanted a fan that had reverse speeds for winter time as well as cooling for the summer. Also, an important feature we were looking for was how quiet the fan was and how snug it fit against the ceiling. We couldn't be happier. We have a 7'6" ceiling height and wanted to make sure this advertised "snugger" ceiling fan was not too low once installed. The fan is perfect! It was a great price, it is super quiet. We can't hear it running. In fact, we have left it on by accident because we don't hear it. It also moves the air and cools great too. We installed it and our 6'3" son has plenty of head room to walk right under it. I believe the clearance is 6'7" or 6'8" from the floor to fan blades. We would absolutely recommend this product.
