The original motor was sticking. I was able to lubricate it and get it running short term, but ordered this motor as a replacement. A few weeks later when the original motor locked up again I swapped it for this one. It took me about 20 minutes. (I'm a former USN Electrician's Mate and I worked as an electrician for a few years, so I was comfortable with the task, but really, anyone could do this. Just turn the breaker off first.) This motor was a little over $100 and it probably saved me a $600-700 service call. I went ahead and swapped the capacitor at the same time, then put the old one in the cabinet with the extra capacitor for the pump. Both good to have spares for. I've also noticed about a $10/mo decline in my electric bill, I would guess because the old motor wasn't running quite to speed, making the A/C run longer. Excellent speed on shipping, too.
