We love the modern design of the ceiling fan. The caged design surrounding the bulbs creates a softer flow of light and it really looks high end. We have a modern styled home and this goes well with it. I can see how this design could go well with many home styles. The blades have two sides - one side is a lighter (almost oak color) wood and the opposite side is a darker wood. I like having the option of both, but we like the darker wood look. The fan is quiet. It comes with a remote with 3 speed options and even a timer option as well.
