I've tried the Fridgemaster (black as advertised) for a few days. It's a robust and sleek product that deserves a five star rating despite a big minus, which shows how great this portable AC is.Its cooling function is powerfull and you can feel ice cold air right when you turn it on.It's among one of the best made products aesthetically. It doesn't take a lot of space and it can cool a 500sqft area easily.The one and only con is the noise it generates. It's incredibly loud. You can't stick around when it's on, or else you'll get a bad headache. I live in downtown and can tolerate noise, not this one unfortunately. The only way to watch TV when it's on is to put earphones on.Despite this con, I really wanted to keep it because it's well made, works great and looks really good.Unfortunately it fits larger spaces where its noise won't be as loud.I already started the return process, as I decided to go for Frigidaire's FHPH142AC1 heat/cool portable AC. Sharing this comparison because I know it matters; Fridgemaster's noise on low fan speed is louder than Frigidaire's noise on high fan speed.The compressor's buzzing that I'm sure will bother the majority, is generated by both with equal noise levels. I just got used to it with time.Also, warning about the return process for heavy products like this one. It's handled by a third party Amazon vendor and the service is a lot slower than what you'd expect. It's already been two weeks and I'm still trying to get ahold of them (they contacted me only once when I was working, and I called them back multiple times without luck).Back to the Fridgemaster, this is an awesome portable AC that deserves five stars right off the bat, regardless of its noise. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat if they make a quiet model. If you have a larger space, I highly encourage you to buy this one and put it somewhere you're not around often, it's really worth the compromise!
