Easy to instal on a slanted cathedral ceiling. The remote turns the light on and also dims it. The fan is reversible and the speed is variable. We have it in a room with a wood stove and we need the reverse feature. One you have the speed and light set. You can turn it on and off with a wall switch you don't have to use the remote unless you want to change something. The fan can move a lot of air and is very quiet.As others have stated the light is dim. It comes with a 5 watt edison led bulb that is equivalent to about 40 watts so not very bright. You can go up to a 14 watt which is about 100 watts.Overall a very nice unit and I would recommend it for a medium to large room
