*update 2*Moving to 5 stars. It's great in my garage and outside with my rabbit hutch.I'm buying another, although the price jumped up.****update 1*We ended up tilting it up and to the right of what we would otherwise center with, in this case, the bed. When we did that, there was markedly better air movement. When we centered the fan on the bed it was gentile, but the periphery apparently is stronger than center. My previous fan threw lots of air straight on, this one doesn't once you get 8' or so away, it is then is best felt on the sides. It may stay a bedroom fan for now, after all.-----For outdoor usage, I don't know, but presume it will work well. This may be where I move this to.For indoor use, I have not tried as a garage fan yet, though that will be the next place I try it.I bought this to use indoors, as I enjoy lots of air moving when I go to bed.Up close, this fan moves a lot of air, and it feels markedly cooler than not in front of the fan. However, when I move back 8 to 10', it's more of a gentle breeze. I see curtains moving (not wildly, but gently) and I know it's moving air, but it's not forceful or even sort of strong.I played with the angles to see if that made a difference and only recently noticed, while standing directly in front of the fan there appear to be dead zones where I can't feel the air, but feel it very strongly a few inches to the side.So it appears to create a vortex that I haven't figured out how to live up so that I get maximum air flow in the bed.Because of this, I'll be switching back to my vornado which seems to throw more air in a directional way than this does. That said, I think this moves more air, altogether, in the room than the Vornado, but it moves it in places that are irrelevant for my desired needs. The build quality seems good and the manufacturer has answered questions saying it can be an outside fan.If it doesn't work as a garage fan, I'll use it outside, as it'll probably fill the needs I have out side, perhaps for our bunnies in their hutch or on my deck.It is not overly loud to me even in the highest setting. It's not quiet, but it's not louder than you'd expect a fan pushing lots of air to be. It has not bothered either my wife or me when going or staying asleep. The sound sounds like pushing lots of wind rather than a loud motor.
