Only time will tell, yet the Bilt Hard 24 inch oscillating fan has been helping to cool my 790 sf garage for a week now and I am impressed with it for the cost. If this fan holds up, it is a true value. Puts out volumes of air movement on low with medium being more air with minimal increase in noise. Low and medium has no vibration. I keep it on low as the air flow is more than sufficient, even with SC heat. High is a wind storm and creates fan grill cover vibration. The noise level is high on low/medium but not overly so for a 24 inch fan. The motor is quiet. For me it's that comfortable white noise that helps me sleep . The fan spreads the air movement across most of the garage space helping keep humidity lower in the total area while cooling me off at my workbench. On/Off and speeds are controlled by a pull chain on the fan. My experience with pull chains is that they tend to be the weak link on an appliance so I added a wireless outlet plug and mounted the transmitter at the door to the interior of house. No wiring needed and only $6.99 through Amazon, see pic. Now the pull chain is only to change speeds. The wireless on/off at the door is just convenient. The fan description says mount on a concrete wall (not Drywall). If you are an experienced DIY person drywall should not be an issue. I mounted it to a double stud (corner framing of garage inset from bay door opening). The fan is heavy and the mounting bracket is heavy steel so you need solid support for the lag screws. The steel bracket would crush the drywall when you tighten to the wall studs without solid backing between the drywall and steel bracket. I didn't have 1/2 x 4 wood lying around, yet had a piece of 3/16 x 8 piece of hardboard. I cut it into 2 equal pieces and glued them together to create 3/8 x 4 solid backing between the drywall and 2 inch wide steel bracket. You will need longer lag screws than what are supplied as they are meant to be mounted flat to concrete without passing through 11/16 drywall. I used 3/8 x 3 lag screws left over from framing our wood deck and they provided deep penetration into the studs. I believe the fan support is better than it would have been through concrete using the supplied concrete anchors and shorter lag screws. However, I would not mount it to a single stud on any wall that is shared by an interior wall. You may get a constant hum/vibration from a single stud that people in the interior room would hear. As with any DIY project, your end result should be safe to use and operate. If you're unsure don't do it. Get one or two 20 inch AC single position fans (they are not direct drive motors and could be noisier). The 20 inch mounts differently and I believe you could mount it between 2 -16" OC studs using a 2x4x36 as the actual support between studs.
