I bought this to replace the G-Force automatic tuning system on my 2016 Gibson Les Paul Studio Faded.First thing's first: I do not dislike the G-Force system, per se. It does its job as advertised and does it well. But here's why I replaced it: Shortly after getting the guitar, I was jamming with some friends and a string broke. I literally didn't know what to do. I've been stringing guitars for 30 years now. But here I was, with a broken string, a backup string, and no idea how to replace it. The G-Force comes with an instruction manual, but I didn't have it with me, and even if I did it would have taken me 15 minutes to change a single string as I fumbled through the manual to figure out what to do. I had replaced the strings right after getting the guitar so I knew how much of a hassle it would have been.I'm sure that after a while, I'd maybe get used to restringing with the G-Force system, but frankly I don't care to learn a secret code to change a string. The overall benefit, to me, is overshadowed by the hassle.I have an Epiphone Les Paul with the kidney-style Grover tuners and they are excellent so I got these for my Gibson. I'm super-happy with them. Installation was easy enough. I screwed it up a little, but that's on me, not the product.First, I removed the old system which was easy. There are no pilot holes in the headstock for the new screws, only the holes for the tuner to go through. I'm decent with tools, but I was still a bit nervous about taking a drill to my expensive instrument. After getting the new ones in place, I lined everything up and hand-tightened the nut on the front of the headstock. Then I made very small pilot holes for the screws. Here's where I messed up: I tightened the screws first, THEN tightened the nut on the front of the headstock. As a result, some of the tuners "twisted" a little in their socket because the wood is not hard enough to hold it in place with that little screw.I didn't even notice it until after I had re-strung the instrument. I plan on fixing it with the next re-stringing but now it looks like it was installed by a blind monkey. They only turned slightly, but it's very noticeable (see the attached photos.) I think that if I had tightened the nut first while holding the keys in the right position, it may have gone smoother. All of that aside, I like my guitar MUCH better now with these tuners. Sure, I lose the convenience of switching between tunings with just a couple clicks and a strum, but I just feel a lot less worried about having some sort of issue (string breaks, battery dies, tuner just flips out.)This is my 3rd guitar with Grover tuners and all 18 tuners are super-smooth to operate. I also like that these ones have the keystone shape for that classic Gibson look.
