The Tjernlund LB2 Dryer Duct Booster Saves significant energy - reducing drying times 50% or more. Reduces lint build-up, dust & fire hazards by maintaining proper velocity in duct runs up to 150 equivalent feet. Features the Lint Blitzer material handling wheel & 5 year no-clog guarantee. 50 watt motor is not exposed to heat, lint or moisture. Includes 115 VAC cord - automatic operation. Suitable for gas and electric dryers. Clothes dryers are often installed in areas of homes where they cannot work effectively. This is because moist air cannot effectively exit the dryer and exhaust to the outside—bogging down the entire drying process. If a dryer’s vent run is over 25 equivalent feet* or the dryer is experiencing long drying time, your dryer may need a dryer booster fan. The LB2 Dryer Duct Booster can also reduce the potential fire hazard associated with lint buildup.
Highly recommended for homes with dryer exhaust duct run of 25 feet or more
Lint Blitzer impeller repels lint
LED indicator display panel
Permanently lubricated motor is positioned outside of air stream for maximum motor life
Easy installation in both horizontal and vertical ducts
Maintains proper exhaust velocities in duct runs up to 100 equivalent feet, optimizing dryer performance
I'm updating this review because I bought the LB1 looks like 12 years ago and for a long time it worked very well. But the last few years with a new dryer it was touch and go detecting airflow and recently it gave up the ghost. That said, I'll take anything that works for a decade, so I went ahead and ordered up the LB2. Fit exactly, no design change, but welcome updates to the speed at which it detects airflow as well as the sensor display panel. It has worked 100% on every dry and is just as effective! Very happy for the upgrade, and this definitely pays for itself in decreased drying time and heat needed for clothes! Recommend .. again!__________ (This was from 2012)The problem was that I have a long run dyer vent in my house. 40 feet total in length with an S turn. Seriously, who designed this?So standard drying was taking 2-3 times normal and was just eating up electricity. We tried venting into the house into a vent bucket but OMG dust in the house and laundry room was insane. There were no good options for putting a vent elsewhere.Enter this beast. Installation was fairly easy and direct. Built a mounting board between joists and used stiff flex ducting to get it into the line. Installation took about 3 hours start to finish. I just ran an extension cord to it from a standard outlet but it can be hard wired. Results were better than I imagined. My estimate is that it doubles the effective airflow of the dryer and therefor dries clothes faster at lower temperatures. That alone saves me money. Something like this would be worth having even without having the long run problem. That said there are minimums for length and run so you can't just throw it in an 8 foot run. I have ZERO dust in my laundry area now. Clothes are lasting longer too since the dry cycles are so less intense.Only complaint is that every so often it doesn't detect the dryer going off and it keeps running it. I have to turn it off and let it relearn, but again this is very rare ... maybe once every other month. Been a while since I had to do this, so maybe it learned!
