Enhanced Air Quality Management - Featuring an innovative and efficient air circulation system, the xTool Enclosure ensures a guided, streamlined flow of air from intake to exhaust. This design minimizes exposure to smog, noise, dust, and odors, significantly improving indoor air quality. Not only creates a cleaner and healthier environment but also enhances safety and health standards.
Robust Protection and Longevity - The xTool Enclosure, with its PU outer layer, offers routine waterproofing while being easy to clean. Its core layer of PP hollow board is V0 flame retardant, corrosion-resistant, and moisture-proof. The innermost 600D flame retardant polyester, known as PET or 600D Oxford cloth, provides a strong fire and smoke barrier.
Ultra Eye Protection - Featuring a substantial 455x250mm viewing window of laser-light-filtering polycarbonate, the enclosure maximizes safety. It provides a clear view while protecting against laser glare, ensuring user eye safety and comfort during lengthy engraving or cutting sessions.
Optimized Storage Solution - Designed for efficiency and convenience, the xTool Enclosure integrates smart storage capabilities within its durable structure. The enclosure features specialized compartments and holders that keep your tools and accessories neatly organized and readily accessible, to combine functionality with peace of mind in one sleek package.
Market-Compatible Size - Spanning 24.6''x24''x12.2'' with an inner dimension of 23.6''x23.2''x11.8'', our enclosure accommodates most laser engravers available today. Its spacious design ensures a perfect fit for a wide range of models, making it a versatile choice for users.
I have a 5W D1 that I mostly use for engraving wood - no cutting. Occasionally I will engrave a ceramic tile. I’m a hobbyist and don’t put many hours on the machine (use it a couple times a week tops). I’ve been running my D1 in the garage during summer with two doors open to manage smoke and fumes, but that is not viable for winter. I wanted to move the machine into the basement, but have no working windows to vent through and didn’t want to bother with drilling new 4” holes to put in a new vent. My work area is near an old and unused central vac vent that is about 2” gray PVC. I took a chance on this enclosure with concerns that the fan wouldn’t be powerful enough and the 3”ish hose would not work in my situation. The supplied hose has about a 3” inner diameter (a little over 3”) and fits over a 2” white PVC coupling with some wiggle room that I sealed with duct tape. The 2” coupling is a little big for the 2” gray vent pipe, but close enough that the duct tape sealed it up.Before burning anything with the laser, I ran the fan to be sure air was moving through the vent. I checked outside, and the grass under the vent was moving from the air flow (vent is > 16” above the grass) and I could feel a lot of air moving. I burned a few items (pine, maple, and cardboard) and noticed no smoke exiting the enclosure. There is some smoke smell that gets out, but only noticeable within a couple feet of the enclosure and where the tape is sealing up the vent connections. I haven’t had a chance to do any tiles yet, so I don’t know how well that odor is contained. Overall, I am pleased with the fan and vent set up for my situation, but if you desire no odor to escape, the fan doesn’t accomplish that for me. It works well enough that I don’t plan to move the laser into the garage anymore though. The enclosure fits around the frame snugly. Without risers, the left side of the frame blocks much of the way inflow vent. The enclosure is not airtight, however, so there is other air that flows in. I don’t know if it’s balanced flow though. The enclosure is sturdy. It does smell like a smokehouse inside after a few burns. The inside probably needs to be wiped down occasionally to remove buildup. Some minor complaints is that once you extend the exhaust hose, it doesn’t go back to being collapsed. I don’t need it fully extended, but it doesn’t stay collapsed when I push it back together. Ends up being extra length for the air to move. The fan does not have a grill on it, so it would be possible for fingers to get in it while running (if feeling around on the inside if the enclosure for some reason). The plastic blades are dull and would not do any damage though. Also, it would be nice if the lid had some mechanism to hold it open. Not a big deal though. The biggest complaint is the holes for mounting the fan. They weren’t perfectly aligned with the holes in the fan and exhaust port, so it took a bit to get them in. Also, the holes were drilled small, so the screws had to be threaded through the holes in the enclosure, which made the misalignment that much more annoying. Eventually I got them through without having to enlarge the holes or drill new ones.I did install the fan backwards initially and didn’t notice until it was turned on and air wasn’t blowing out. I’m not sure if I missed something in the instructions or on the fan to indicate installation orientation, but that will be something to watch for.Overall, the enclosure so far does what I need it to do: keeps laser light mostly enclosed and away from wandering eyes (although I can’t guarantee the window blocks the harmful light), it doesn’t allow any noticeable smoke into the room, and manages most of the smell. I have no regrets in the purchase after having it a couple weeks.
