Love this insert!!!My Pros: Angled control panel. Angled lights. Commercial look. Quiet fan.My Cons: Protective white plastic stuck to everything is time consuming to remove. The clock is not initially intuitive to set. There is one brightness level of the clock display which is BRIGHT! No night light needed in the kitchen any longer. May cover this with a small piece of tint for windows or a piece of black electrical tape.The angled panel makes the controls easy to see. The angled lights do not shine in your eyes like some hoods. The fan runs fairly quiet in my opinion, although the high speed (F3) does seem noisy. I'm not too impressed with the "gesture" mode as it combines the light and the fan operation together. When waving left to right, the light will turn on the the fan turns on to LOW speed (F1). Waving right to left will initiate a count down timer to turn off both within three minutes. Another wave right to left will turn both light and fan off. You can turn the light on / off manually as well as the fan. I would of liked the lights to be a bit brighter. As far as installation goes, I did a total make over of the existing vent hood by removing the standard cabinet above the range. I built an angled frame necking down to chimney up to the ceiling. I am not able to vent outside so I cut small sections out of the crown molding on the hidden side in order to vent the recirculated air. I did attach a flexible duct to move the air higher away from the insert, closer to the outlet vents cut in the crown. Air flow exiting the chimney is very good. As others have reported, the white protective plastic on EVERYTHING was time consuming to remove.Color of chimney is not final - will be painted same as the wall color, Accessible Beige. The curved red oak fascia will be stained to match the cabinets. Crown on cabinets not completed at this time.
