The jacket arrived without any fancy packaging, just wrapped in plastic, inside an Amazon box. A tag inside the jacket says it was made in Pakistan. The entire outer shell of the jacket is supposed to be cowhide leather and that appears to be the case. It is somewhat soft and has a bit of heft. Out of the plastic the jacket does indeed give off the smell that leather products are known for. It's not strong enough to necessitate immediate cleaning nor a vinegar or baking soda treatment but it wouldn't hurt to air it out for a bit outdoors.The SFM1885 is styled in the manner of a motorcycle jacket but it isn't really made for that. Like the product description says this is a fashion jacket. Following the size recommendation in the product photos I prioritized my chest measurement. I fall between XL and 2XL on the chart but I'm big around the stomach so I went with the larger option. This gave me a fit that was relaxed with ample room for layering in cooler climes. If you intend to use this without layering inner garments then pick a size smaller. If you want a super snug fit, depending on your proportions you might be able to go 2 sizes down. That will give you a slimmer profile and will fit more like a motorcycle jacket. I'm satisfied with the recommended size since I did want a jacket for use when I travel to colder regions.The design is not a classically simple pattern. There are several sections of thick "piping" as the motif over each shoulder, along the arms (both above and below the elbow), and across the back (at the shoulder blades and below the waist). The jacket also has straps with buckle closures. There are two at the neck for closing the collar across the throat, and two at each side down by the waist/hip for cinching up to a tighter fit. The there are two rows of snap buttons going down the front, starting wider at the top and converging towards the bottom, with a zipper asymmetrically on the right of center. The cuffs are also zippered. When unzipped the cuffs are fully open without any expansion material holding the sleeve closed. There are also three zippered pockets, one each side at waist level and one high up on the left chest. The two waist pockets are perfectly placed for keeping your hands tucked in but I find the one at the left chest a bit too high for my ease of use. I suppose it would not be an issue for those more flexible than me. There are also unzippered pockets inside, one on each side at chest level. The inside of the jacket is lined/filled in polyester.The outer leather used throughout is of uniformly decent quality; in fact it is perhaps slightly better than I expected given the price I paid. The stitching is generally good with maybe only one or two runs and end stitches that could have been given a bit more attention. But nothing stands out as a terrible line or weak stitch. Again, more than accceptable for the price since this is a real leather jacket. The snap buttons hold firm but are not difficult to close. The zippers are branded YKK and aren't lightweight or flimsy. They are, as expected, smooth to open and close. The least impressive of the fasteners used are the buckles. They don't quite match the quality of the zippers and snaps. If they had used nicer buckles I would not mind paying a few dollars more.Overall, I'm quite satisfied with this jacket and happy to wear it. It's not perfect but it serves the purpose I need it for and it is quite interesting to look at. The materials seem mostly to be quite good and should last a long time. And the price is very reasonable for a jacket made of decent leather. If they had it in a different color I might have been tempted to get another in a smaller size to wear without layers. I can recommend this jacket if the buyer has confidence in getting his size right.
