This fan is sturdy, high quality, pleasently noisy, and does not make my sinuses swell.I had purchased a plastic fan from a local retailer which was only 1/4 the cost before I threw that away and bought THIS fan. This one is not cheap, but the quality construction more than makes up for the cost. It is pleasently noisy, as I use it to move air and help drown out the urban sounds outside of my apartment. This fan is healthier because the fan blades and safety cage are made of metal, not plastic. This thing is set to direct air in one direction, almost into my face, and because its blades and safety cage are made of metal I am not perturbed by the oily smell of cheap modern plastic.I don't know about you, but I cannot get used to that plastic smell that many cheap modern appliances have, they even makes my nose stuffy and my sinuses swell, probably due to chemical content. As far as I can tell, a metal fan like this one does not have those plastic chemicals in its airfoils. I recommend this fan even if just for that reason!
