A quiet fan system designed for cooling receivers, amplifiers, DVRs, and other AV components. Protects components from overheating, performance issues, and shortened lifespans. LCD thermostat programming with six speed controls, alarm alerts, failure triggers, and memory. Contains three dual-ball bearing fans with PWM-controlled motors to minimize noise. Dimensions: 17 x 13.5 x 1.5 in. | Exhaust: Front | Airflow: 160 CFM | Noise: 24 dBA | Bearings: Dual Ball Product Description A quiet cooling fan system designed to be placed on top of AV components such as receivers, amplifiers, and DVRs. Maintaining an optimal temperature for components prevents overheating, ensures constant performance, and extends their lifespan. The LCD digital controller on the front of the system features a smart thermostat with speed control and status alerts. The steel enclosure houses three dual-ball bearing blowers that pull heat out of the component and exhausts out the rear. The dual ball bearings also allow this fan system to be mounted horizontally or vertically. Its slim low-profile design enables the unit to fit in tight spaces. On the backside are ports to connect and control additional fans. Includes corded power adapter to plug the fan system through an outlet. Intelligent Programming Programming includes an easy-to-use thermostat and a SMART mode that automatically adjusts the fan’s speed to react to varying temperatures. Additional features include alarm alerts, fan failure triggers, power savings setting, display lock, and backup memory. Six fan speeds are available with three screen brightness settings. Behind the unit are ports that can control up to six individual AC Infinity AIRPLATE Cabinet fans and MULTIFAN Component fans. Design and Construction Each system features dual-ball bearing fans rated at 67,000 hours and are certified by CE and RoHS. Fans contain a PWM-controlled motor used to minimize noise during speed variations and are suspended in mid-air with silicone mounts to absorb vibrations. A low-profile design allows the unit to fit in applications with a limited height clearance. Aluminum and steel construction enables additional components up to 30 pounds to be stacked on top. My set up consists of: a preprocessor, three external amplifiers, a separate CD player, Blu-ray player and an XBox.Heat and radio frequency are killers to sound (degradation of signal) and components. Utilizing shielded cables throughout the entire system is great for protecting against RF but unwanted heat buildup from the amps and processor need serious attention.I began with dual fans that were only 3x5 in size, so I needed several to implement into my system, all with their own A/C style plugs, very inconvenient, noisy and lots of extra wires. Then I upgraded to laptop style coolers, much larger, covering more real estate and less wires but still not as effective as I'd like to dissipate heat from the heatsinks in the amps. Then comes AC Infinity. They offer several different solutions to accommodate any and every system out there.I have three different fans in my set up: the Aircom S7, a 12" top exhaust fan I use on the amp that exudes the least amount of heat dissipation. Next is the Aircom S9, a 17" top exhaust fan for my hottest amp and lastly, the Aircom S8, a 17" rear exhaust fan which adorns my processor.I have an open cabinet and out of the three, the S8 does the overall best job of ejecting the heat from my set up by blowing it straight out the back of the cabinet. The top exhaust units in my system certainly keep my amps cool however I've come to appreciate the rear exhaust for my particular application. All three are powered with A/C detachable cords which plug in nicely into my power conditioner.I've covered the effectiveness of the fan, as far as distracting lights, there is a power light and a fan speed light. You'll notice from the pictures that a small piece of electrical tape covers the fan speed light as I leave the power light exposed so I know all is well. The power light is small enough, in my opinion, that is not a distraction.Noise: this fan can be heard from your seating position if you have them on full blast. Once click down from full speed and the sound is quite noticeably more quiet, or should I say, less noticeable :) however still effective.I have absolutely no regrets with these purchases, in fact, I still have one amp left using a laptop cooler waiting for it's S8 rear exhaust fan.If your system has the least amount of heat buildup, these fans ARE the ticket, the build quality is impressive and they are very attractive for what it is as it blends in perfectly with the gear it's protecting. These fans are not the cheapest pricewise but not the most expensive either. From my point of view, the value they are protecting gives me peace of mind! One more honorable mention is the care that goes into the packaging for shipping. The unit has fabricated soft foam sleeves that fit over each end, like your high end Blu-ray player or A/V receiver would with their Styrofoam block ends. Even the detachable plug has it's own foam cover and in it's own zip lock custom fit bag. The unit is also in a plastic bag, boxed and then double boxed with extra packing paper in between. Even the brochure that accompanies the unit is in it's own sleeve. All in all, this is a purchase that is impressive from the time it arrives to your door to the the time it does what it's intended to do.This product receives my HIGHEST recommendation.
