These work as advertised. 6 fans on a roof are nothing close to quiet - have not checked to see if they are in spec - but they did not come close to missing my expectations in terms of noise - traditional rack fan noise that passes through walls, ceilings, doors, etc. They move tons of air through the rack - and they are extremely easy to install in SR42UBs - remove old ceiling panel - install new one that the fans are attached to - took about 2 minutes. Wonderful design! Great job Tripp Lite.To quiet the fans and keep air moving through racks in rooms with people, I installed a variac to drop voltage to fans - seems to work just fine - keeps some air flow through rack and keeps people from going nuts. There are quieter fans that you can buy to accomplish reduced air flow in racks around people - but ... it is really nice to have the fans on the roof and out of the way.
